Default Bad HUB/BEARING on Alero?

Had a run in with a curb a while back, the front passenger side Hub, control arm, cv shaft, tie rod ends, steering knuckle and strut all needed replacing on the right front side of the car, as that took the impact mainly, so that was done, also had to replace two front wheels in the front with good in balance OEM ones from a parts yard, both tires are still in good condition, they arent very cheap tires at 200 a piece, had a 4 wheel alignment done at Kal Tire, as you could see the Toe Out on the passenger side tire, also at speeds above 20 or so mph you could hear what sounds like the tire humming really heavily on the road, you could feel this vibration in the floor and in the steering wheel, at that time, the steering wheel was way out of wack and it pulled..so 100 dollars later they did the alignment. Now at speeds of 30 or higher its still vibrating/humming, you can let go of the wheel it goes straight, it even goes straight when u hit the brakes, so to me, this isnt an alignment issue. My abs trac lights arent on, i would think if the left front hub were going, the light would probally come on sensing trouble with rotation on that side. Mechanically all the components are still fine on the left side of the car. Any ideas befor i sink MORE money into it?

I had a front bearing go and no lights came on. You could hear the noise though, which was a humming. Also as I turned from one side to another ( putting more and less pressure on it) the sound would change. Any good mechanic can spot a bad wheel bearing while listening to it on the hoist. Even the GM dealer I brought mine to found it in seconds with the good old long screwdriver trick.

Blow up the car, and minimize your losses to that car. :? j/k

You got a warranty, use it.

Sorry but he is talking about an Alero. If it is anything like the Malibu ( which I am pretty sure it is the same part), it is 400$ yes 400$ NOT 40$. So it may not be a matter of just change it and get on with it. The bearing is a complete assembly with the abs sensor in it too. 3 bolts hold it on.

most front wheel drive cars have a sealed hub which contains the wheel bearing when the bearing going you have to replace the unit as a hole

Most all front wheel drive cars have a sealed hub assembly. $40 will definitely NOT cover it. Even on the H-bodies they're over $100.
