I said 9 cause the car is 15 years old so you have to expect a few things. The car went through many owners before I bought it, it was originally a lease so you know how people take care of a lease car, just about as much as a rental.
Anyhow, I bought the car and then it sat for another 2 years ( approx) so you know how bad that is for a car. to get it back on the road, I replaced
- gas tank
- rear brake lines
- fuel lines
- tires
- rear air shocks
- patched a couple holes in the floor
Shortly after having it on the road and getting the bugs out I replaced the front shocks ( they were feeling soft), had to replace the harmonic balancer and replace the fuel pump ( last 2 items were after a trip to the Bonne Meet in Toronto). Since we got the bugs worked out we have only had it in for oil changes, tire rotation, and other regular maintenance.
It has been close to a year since anything really had to get changed on it.
OH one thing, it had 177,000 kms when we bought it and it still had the original plug wires and possibly the original plugs in it, and the oil was the blackest I have ever seen, it now has around 195,000 kms. I will have to make sure I get a pic of when it hits 200,000 kms .
The Alt did go twice on it but that was a bad reman that went and not the cars fault. Plus it did break down once. The steel tube that goes to the firewall started to leak antifreeze, but that was probably due to the other work that was done to it.
To me alot of the things that had to be changed were just regular wear and tear on any vehicle and this one is 15 years old and they like to use salt alot around here.
OK that was really long but you asked for it.
It is a 1990 SSE

I voted a 9 for my first one. had it 3 years from 105k to 145k and it only once caused me an issue (water pump)
That thing went through 4 accidents, a water pump, strut bearing, a set of brakes, and 2 sets of tired (lead foot issues) Ran like a champ til we sold it. (soon after it was in a frontal collision which caused the tranny to die)
As for my current one, I can not rate it yet as I am working the bugs out. From what I am told, it runs like a champ, but still working out issues from the engine swap. It was neglected by the previous owner some...

if my dad was a mechanic, and i knew about this site, my car would still be trucking...
dad has it in the stop right now looking at the tranny and motor...maybe rebuild time

Wow, who would've thought haro would only give his Bonne a 3? Interesting to see some of the negative comments. Seem they mostly come from the previous owner'* abuse. Which you can check for, easily enough, if you know what to look for. All in all, I'm seeing the vast majority of votes above 7. That'* good Anybody else noticing a particular trend with the low-scorers besides what I mentioned?
And thanks for the feedback, guys Keep those votes coming!

Well, the long-term reliablity of the interior electronics really did in my score. I can only assume '92+ models fare better. Like I said, it'* horrible.

A 6.5, you'll find it on page 1. Had these components lasted, the car would have easily scored an 8 or so (+/- 1). Remember, this is how reliable your Pontiac Bonneville is, not how reliable your 3800 is.
It would be easier to tell you what didn't break as opposed to what did. (gauge cluster, ONLY if you excuse the DIC not registering certain issues like "Door Ajar", and climate controls).
I feel that some of the gadgetry was too far ahead of its time. GM wanted to put quantity, not quality into the '91 SSE
