Lounge For casual talk about things unrelated to General Motors. In other words, off-topic stuff. And anything else that does not fit Section Description.

So you can't be the official ANYTHING here?

well for it to be an official title would mean that everyone would have to proclaim that you are that title. (as in everyone would have to agree with it.) To be correct would be to say "self proclaimed donkey puncher." Not "official donkey puncher."

Its called maturity and common sense. This board is a clean slate since it is a friendly atmosphere. Having a self imposed title just tells me that your starving for attention or trying to be a 'class clown'. Think if you just met 3000 people all with different ego'* and attitudes, would you really talk it up this much, knowing your *** could be kicked by half of them? When everyone tells someone to drop it, then they better drop it. Its annoying and rude.

Howzabout a more sensible answer that'* got nothing to do with personalities or getting anything kicked?

Even though we are primarily just an online community, we do have a well respected staff/chain of command.

Anyone proclaiming themselves as "Official" anything has the potential of confusing new people, or in some cases, appearing as subversion to our current staff.

I have had titles in the past here. I was the "Official Lounge Lizard", as proclaimed by either WillWren or Jim W. I was also appointed "Resident Preident" by Jim W. Those were "appointed" positions tho, by staff members.

Claiming "Official" status just rubs a lot of people the wrong way. I know it does me, but that'* probably just myu military background, so I normlly ignore it as a mental problem on my part...

Exactly...thank you gentlemen.

New members should attempt to gracefully slide into this site, participate in an appropriate; respectful manner and get a feel for the nature of the community and what is acceptable conduct.

Staff, both past and present (yes I'm still around ) take posting conduct very seriously. Conform or you are not welcome to continue posting.

Its pretty simple

So back to my question...

What if I were to put an actual official title that I have...like my job title or something...

I.E. : Official McDonald'* burger flipper of BC

or

Official Ace Hardware register clerk of BC

or

Official high school counselor of BC

Would that be acceptable? I mean, you can't argue that the 'donkey puncher' part is vulgar, because it obviously is acceptable here.

Like I said...just trying to make a point, not start a fight. I hope no one takes offense.

I'm actually a pretty cool guy and so is Kris. I'm sure some of you recognize that.
Ask Kris to share his PM'* from me to him. That explains the issue quite well. We have this policy because of past abuse, and it stands. There is no room for argument on this one.

When an Administrator or Moderator warns a member about something, they are expected to act. We have rules, policies and guidelines that dictate how this board is operated on a daily basis. Much of this comes from the Founder/Owner of the site, and we are expected to fulfill his wishes in the way we do our jobs.

When you are asked to change your signature, you do it. Being here is not a right. You are a member at our discretion. If you don't like the way this forum runs, you aren't being forced to be here. Abide by our rules and style, or find a Forum that suits your needs better.

Leaving my comments in the signature to proclaim to the world "I'm a martyr, I'm being repressed" is childish. Posting all this publicly was the wrong approach. As you can see from the replies in this topic and the locked one that came before it, the other members of this Forum understand how it runs, and respect the Staff decisions, and the reasons for those decisions.

We are not an EXLUSIVE Forum. We have members here that don't have Bonnevilles, but at the same time, they came here for reasons other than to make a statement for a 'repressed' friend. We don't appreciate this type of posting, because quite frankly, we have better things to do.

The bottom line for Kris is this: If you don't like it, you're welcome to go somewhere else.
If you like it here, we'd love to have you stay, and get along, follow the flow, and get along.

I'll leave this unlocked for the time being.

Bill, you're pretty patient...I've read all the posts (including the locked thread) surrounding this issue. If this weren't a virtual community, situations like these would be comfortably handled outside near the flag pole ...

I guess I appreciate you and the other members' diplomacy.

Sheesh...this is a car forum, people...not a "vent your mangled psychology" workshop!?
