I figured they all have Nextel/Sprint phones and try to use the walkie talkie button as a keypad?

Sweet, I've been thinking of getting into it once I'm not so busy with the projects I've got going right now. One less thing to study, although I still would like to brush up on my morse code.

Nothing wrong with knowing the code, how else are you gonna identify HF beacons?

The FCC has posted the R&O. Once it hits the Federal Registry, it goes into effect 30 days after. Speculating around Feb. If you don't feel like reading through all the legal mumbo jumbo, I can sum it all up... Tech'* automatically get upraded to Tech Plus. Thats it. Take the written General and thats it. Take the written Extra, thats it.

On another note...I applied for a vanity callsign to celebrate the rule change. I went for a 1X3 call with a W prefix instead of the K.

Getting the license plates too? I did for mine, as tattered and road-worn as the car is, still sports my call
