yea i understand that but i am a relativily small built guy, so i am going to do the bulking up stage (maybe 10-15 pounds) then do some cutting and see what i think. But unlike most i am not only lifting upper body, i am doing legs and working on the gut also.

I just started lifting a few months ago.
My tri'*, forearms, shoulders and upper back have been getting a work out for the past ten years. (Been throwing myself around, down railings and such on a bike) And my legs are decently developed from pedaling around all those years too.
Kinda left something to be desired in the chest department..
So I just do mostly chest, back, and ab stuff.
I really want to keep my back and abs in check since I have a fair share of back problems. (bulging disks, slight scoliosis, and previous stress fractures in the lumbar vertebrae) I especially want to strengthen that area now since I plan to put more weight up top.
Anyways, I've put on about 20 lbs since I started and I'm now 5' 11" and 170 lbs.
Last time I maxed my bench it was 195 but I can probably do more now.
It gets me out of the office during lunch and the mid section stuff is great p.m. if anything else.

Well started my first supplement tonight. I finished a nice workout and down some whey protein. I am doing 46 grams after my workouts. Chocolate flavored and its great As for progress, i have been lifting 3 times a week only using dumbells and i am seeing pretty decent progress. I have had a few peoples notice the difference and make comments about it. I am happy so far, and the progress is all pre supplements so i am hoping for more now. As for weight lol, i gave up trying to gain weight. I was eating 4-5 meals a day and trying to gain weight and i have lost almost 10 pounds lol, and that is even after gaining muslce. So i would say it is probably closer to 20 pounds of fat, my poor beer belly is just about gone Between the workouts and my cardio i think i am doing very well, and will keep everyone updated as the progress goes on

Good to hear about the progress TJ! Keep us updated
When I broke 400lbs on my squats in High School it wasn't long before my knees started hurting very baddly for days at a time. So I backed off in fear of what could happen to me after seeing 2 of my buddies tear there ACLs on the field. To many of my friends got injured playing HS sports :?

I work out. Not just lifting, but running too.
I am 43 and I don't want a "muffin top" so I do alot of lower back and ab work to keep it tight. I have a slender build (175 at 6'0) so I lift to maintain and sculpt what I have.
If I am asked, I tell people that they didn't gain all their weight in a week, so don't expect to lose it quickly. Baby step it. It could take years to get where you want to be.
If you get burned out, take a week off, but get back into the next week. cut back on the calories (after you bulk up) and enjoy the comments people give you.

Tomorrow I am flying out to Ohio for a fun filled Beerless 4 day weekend, so I am really going to train today. Got fresh new equipment and I am going to try to do 18 reps of these 12 oz curls. I have been training alot, and leaving dead useless training gear strung out all over the deck and yard, so I think I can make it. Wish me luck.

Yeah a few hours after a good lift you get that deep sore & numb feeling in your body. Its a good feeling in its own right but a few drinks do help make the night a little more comfortable.
