Default 1st for US car company

It looks as though the Samuel Hubinette and his Dodge Viper is this seasons points leader in D1GP (The Drifting Grand Prix) He took 1st in Long Beach, CA, the 1st time ever for an American Car, and beating out the much aclaimed drifting supercar Nissan Skyline. Chalk it up! Sam is also looking at bringing in a Dodge Charger next. Someone is looking at entering the Pontiac Solstace.

I don't think that, that will happen anytime soon. Looks like some of the Nascar Pro are getting into it also.

No your right, it was the same race in Long Beach but it didn't take first, good showing from what I heard as well.

I'm sorry, guys, but I think drifting is ridiculous. Yeah, it'* fun to kick the tail sideways if you've got the power and technique, but is it really its own sport? When I watch the videos on that website, all I see is a bunch of guys who don't know the fastest line around a corner. Drifting is an exhibition, just like freestyle motocross, airplane aerobatics, figure skating, gymnastics, and the like. All require judges, which makes victory completely subjective. I'm not saying it'* a pointless pursuit, but I have a hard time placing it on the same level as auto racing, airplane racing, speed skating, or any of the "ball" sports. And ultimately, I think the best "drifting" in the world is found during dirt track stock car and sprint car races. Those guys drive through corners sideways because it'* the fastest way to get around the track.

/end hijack

NASCAR has been "drifting" since it'* conception. Only they didn't call it that. They called it "turning" and they did it four times per lap for up to 500 miles.

You wanna see "drifting", go watch dirt track racing or Sprint Cars. They'll show you what drifting is all about
