That shook the whole world. Dale was the single most responsible person for expanding the NASCAR influence. Even people that never watched a race knew what Nascar was because of him. Only a fraction of his fans were regular viewers.
He wasn't just the greatest on the track, he was a really good person. The man was amazing on the track, especially the superspeedways. Many said he could 'see' the air and use it to his advantage, and his opponents disadvatage. Jr seems to have learned from the old man.
To this day, many drivers say that the most common distraction to them that caused the simple mistakes was simply seeing a #3 in their rear view mirror. And now many say the same about the #8.
Many also don't know that Dale Sr'* father is in the motorsports hall of fame himself

D**M,that definately was the event that shocked the NASCAR world to it'* foundation!!!!!!!!
Should have followed the same advice that he gave JR. while they were out by the pond. That would have been one h**l of a father/son race team!!!!!!
