Came across these last night ebaying. I'm looking for something cheap for a OBD 2 that I can scan with. Don't care if it'* updateable or not. I like the price. I already have a OBD1 scanner so is this to generic or will it scan everything I need when I start modding the GTP and Park Avenue?

Those are probably too generic. Hard to say, since they don't provide enough information to determine what live data they support. Most likely, none of those will provide "KR", which is one of the most important data when modding.

I'd rather spend the extra money and get an Actron CP9180 off eBay for 120 bucks...

you can actually get obd II scanners at harbor freight for about fifty bucks, they read and clear any code.

You don't want a scanner that is restricted to reading and clearing codes. There'* a bunch of active data that you can scan with a good scanner or tuner, like KR, O2, injector pulsewidth, IAT readings, boost, and values for almost every sensor on the car. All of these can be read and logged in realtime with the right scanner, or with a tuner program for a laptop.

Besides for that. I have absolutely no desire for a pillar pod, reducing one of my air vents, etc....

Tuck it into the center console or under the dash, and pull it out when you need it. You can get a 'cup pod' that attaches with temporary adhesive or velcro when you need to drive and scan.

You can use it as a traditional scanner that way.

Yeah, I could do it that way, but I mean, I dunno, I would rather just have something hand held.

BTW, how does the data from the aeroforce get onto your computer, if say your were datalogging?

I've also even considered picking up a use Palm Pilot off of ebay ($20-$40), and then try to find software to read, delete, datalog, etc.....
