I spent a week at an all inclusive resort. It was a 5 star resort. Included all the food you want and all the drinks you want too. We could leave any time we wanted to "explore" on our own, but a week of relaxing by one of the pools with unlimited alcohol was great. Met alot of great people there and had a blast. Actually it was Super Bowl weekend about 12-13 years ago. I never did see the end of that game, haha.

On the other hand, I am leaving in 7 days to go on a cruise, where food is included but not the "drinks". Price after flight was very close to the same, but there is 13 years between those trips.

Dude, my wife and I went to the Grand Palladium resort just south of Playa for our honeymoon, and then returned there with my parents later the same year for vacations. I absolutely loved it! The all inclusive deal is great, because you can eat as much as you want, and drink as much as you want . The bartenders will make anything your heart desires, and you can bake in the sun with a cold beverage listening to the sea roll in and out. It'* one of the best damn times I've ever had.

Suffice to say, if you want a vacation where you just chill out and relax while indulging in good food and drink, it'* worth it.

Maybe I am wrong since I have never stayed at one...but just because it is all inclusive doesn't mean that they lock you inside like a prisin....

We have been to several all inclusive resorts which were at least 4 stars. We absolutely loved it. Or previous vacations have been to Florida 8 times, Cape Code several times, Italy, British Columbia, Quebec, Las Vegas, Texas, etc. If you take advantage of all that the resort has to offer, it'* truly amazing for the less than $1,000.00 we spent per person. There is no way that you can take advantage of all they have to offer such as sailing, scuba diving, snorkeling, basket ball, tennis, water skiing, etc, etc. We had 3 a la carte restaurants, which is basically reservations only along with 5 other restaurants. There were live bands 5 bars with one being open 24 hrs a day. The staff will bend over backward to accommodate you, such as bringing your drinks to the pool or beach, entertain your kids while you take dancing lessons. Everything from the king size bed to the continental breakfast was truly a great way to start the day.

We always booked last minute and you can usually review other peoples comments regarding there experiences on certain resorts.

In conclusion, do your homework, don't go less than 4 stars and find a resort that has all the activities and amenities that you want. For the price you can't go wrong.
