Young'ns gettin married.
So I meet this really cool new girl at work. Gorgeous, smart, kind, funny, etc etc. I think everythigns going great for a week, shes 22, just a year older than me. We love hanging out at work and i figgure we've met long enough, time to ask her out. Well today in mid conversation i come to find a RING on her LEFT hand, and find out shes engaged! To a 30 year old man at that! And has been for months now. (There was no ring any previous days, I checked)
WTF is up with that. She is the THIRD girl i have met that is 22 or younger and engaged or already married. WHyyyyyyyY!?
IMHO thats too young. I know lots of people think otherwise, obviously, but what do you think?
Is this a new thing, get married before you are even set free in this world? I dont get it. Help me out here.
My goal in life is to get her single before i quit my retail job. It sounds like an easy task at the moment.
Every awesome girl i meet is either engaged or a lesbian. (And were long before i met them, so it isnt ME!) But this sucks. Oh well on to the next one.

Think 22 is young?
I have a co-worker that IS married....
SHES 16!!!!!!! I f***ing want her but shes taken! Her parents we're fine with it. Its crazy but they're happy and they have a livable income. Although she drives an 80'* *-10 which is corodded (sp) badly. It only sucks to me 'cause I wanted to "Get to know her more." when shes already married...

My wife and I got married last October, she is 21 and I am 24. We have been togather for 4 1/2 years now. We also know many people our age that have been married or are getting married that we don't agree with because we don't think that they are mature enough to handle a life-long commitment.
I just think that it depends on the maturity level of the people involved. We both have steady jobs, are going to be first-time parents this October, and are VERY excited.
as far as 16 goes...... I am sorry, but I have yet to meet a person, male or female, that is mature enough at that age to be married. Every person that I have seen get married under age 19 is now divorced, about 3 couples now.

I'm wondering how many people get married before there 20 and are still married 20 years later? I believe that 50% of marriages in the US end in divorce, but I wonder what the average age that those people were when they did get married.
Don't read to much into this question people, I'm just curious.

I know lots of people that are married that are less than 22. 16 IS FRICKING CRAZY though! All of them are still together after years of Marriage.

I got married at 17 and we were together for 11 years. He just wanted to run with the guys and drink while I was raising Jeff.
These days it seems like it isn't a bad idea to marry younger because then you have less baggage. The guys I meet now are jaded, cynical, have ex-wives to contend with, and all sorts of baggage that goes along with it all. I know there is a good man out there that is the perfect fit for me so I'll just wait until he finds me. If that never happens I'm okay with that also.
