Default Aftermarket RIM selection question

I am looking to place aftermarket rims and tires on my wifes car. The tires she has on them now are run flats, which are known to perform poorly if the hit a pot hole. I am hoping to get her regular Michelin all season tires. We don't need the super performance tire, we need a tire that can withstand the deep potholes in Chicago. Her rims are 18s, so already a problem...

I have been on tirerack and looked at rimms I see some rims are forged and weigh about 30% less and cost more. Are the forged rimms stronger and lighter?

Any comments would be appreciated.

if they are forged like Weld racing does their drag wheels than yes they are lighter and stronger. Weld racing uses drop forging with like a 30ton press
