Today I had to follow my friend to work, multiple job sites that I don't know of. He is using his dad'* GMC Sierra while he'* out of town. This truck has a 300hp 6000 series V8. He has always gotten a kick out of making me speed to keep up with him, so today he would tromp it at every light making me do the same. I had no choice, I had to keep up so every friggin intersection I was at least half pedal. Would it hurt my car to floor it off the line as long as I gradually depress the pedal? I did that probably 20 times today. I tell him I don't own a 1 year old truck like you, but he just laughs. I mean **** will I have to go in for trans work by the end of the week? I still have tomarrow and Friday to go dealing with his d*** V8.

I drive my car with a full WOT from a dead stop quite often. Not VERY often, but quite often. You'll be fine. Blow his doors off tomorrow, and teach him a lesson.

I can totally relate to his concerns though, I hate flogging my car all the time, once in awhile "just to see what the ole girl has" doesnt bother me, but as a matter of standard driving? I'd be hacked too. Although I don't doubt his cars ability to take it

It should be just fine. Toady I took a 2 hour drive down to 1.5 hours. I had a good leader, we maintained speeds just below my limiter ( 170 km/h, ~105 MPH) and we kept it going for a good bit. So if that doesn't kill the tranny what you did is fine.
Actually you said it was only about half pedal so you are just fine, that is regular take off for me, hehe.
