Was at an abandoned ghost town today.
Bulwark, Alberta, 12 miles north east of Castor, Alberta.
110 miles from home. My grandmother was born there in '41, moved away when she was 15 or so with her family. The down was deserted in the early 1970'*. This is what remains of the town.
Click on the link.
The Elevators are about a Km east of the townsite. Kinda intresting stuff.

The town was abandoned basically because most of its members moved to surrounding areas for more opportunity, It was a small town of about 200 people. It thrived in the early years as a farming community, but then when the train stopped going through town, people trickled away from it, eventually Hay wasn't even shipped there anymore.
It just died.
It just died.

that was really interesting to see. It is kind of sad though to see those homes in that condition and think about the folks that lived there once.

Yah, that was something that crossed my mind as well, who lived there last, what was the town like in its hayday...that kinda thing, now its just kinda creepy to see. Still, I was a unique experience.
