Yep, not better today. New IAC, Plugs and wires don't look too good. Dads standards and mine are obviously way different. He'* the one that told me it got plugs wires cap rotor just before it was parked, I wouldn't know. I think it needs them now.... If you move them just right you get the readings I did, shake them and you get nothing.
Timing set to 0* as per the sticker on the fan shroud, was at 8* BTDC...
It'll crank, fire on a few cylinders, then as soon as the motor shakes the spark is gone. You can get nice spark out of the coil all the time... Gee, what does that sound like?
Dad'* talking about a Carb swap, how fun would that be with bad wires? I think it'll be fun to watch him try

Good idea, Justin, I'll show him that later.
Anyway, I played with the van a little, We can make it idle for a second it you throw fuel in the TB. We've got a 92 work van, and they say it should have the same motor, So I'm about to rip off the doghouse and see what'* up. I suspect the injectors aren't flowing enough and the MAP sensor may be bad.
I'll post a link in a bit to a diagram of the ECM wiring.

Ah HA! Started swapping parts over to the 92 to test them (The 92 runs perfectly) and everything worked. Finally took a good look at the injector fuel flow, noticed the 87 had crappy flow. Dropped the tank (it had 6gal in it, heavy) pulled the pump and got a new one too. The old pump shot fuel 3ft into the air, the new shot it over 13ft into the air. Problem almost solved, Tried to start with new pump, still wouldn't start. That finally convinced dad the wires were bad... Did plugs cap and rotor too. Runs perfectly. woot woot! only $400 worth of parts.... That'* about what a short block to fix the truck would have been....

Yep, I'm pleased... It'* just kind of hard working with him... He'* got no idea how EFI works in any installment. And he bought all the parts to fix it, So I had to prove explicitly why every part needed replaced to about the 47th degree. Hopefully He'll remember how some of it works next time it breaks... (He'* 43)

Yep, the ole 83 chevy ate 5&6, then ate 3&4. I rednecked it again but now the pistons are slapping around due to the rings probably being in the oil pan, I can't beleive this is happening, The truck is only 21 years old!! I mean seriously, it only towed a 23' bass boat 30 miles to the lake for 17 years, What a peice of crap......
