Love the hoods
A GTP came over today, I've been doing a little work on this car for a bit now. He just installed his new hood.

He'* coming back tomorrow to swap superchargers. His is making noise and we want to see if it helps him get better timing.

Hood looks nice. Oddly familiar though.
On the timing.. it'll only net him more timing if you are swapping from a Gen 3 to a Gen 5. Then the cooler charge should allow for a little extra.

Bill his timing has been a real problem. Can't get him past 12 or so, he has a XP cam, headers, CAI, and still, no change in KR. We can hear a lot of noise from the SC so we are going to swap with a known good one.

Not me, I'm holding 18*, but Rich, the GTP he'* only getting about 12* with a 3.4" pulley. He had the same with a stock cam, the XP cam should have helped but didn't, so something else is causing a problem. Rich said he remembers a lot of flash at the outlet of the supercharger. That'* why we want to try a different supercharger.

Rich made it over today for the top swap.
We got right to work.
P8250003.jpg
Pulled the fuel rails, throttle body, vacuum lines, and brackets.
P8250004.jpg
And off came the supercharger
P8250005.jpg
Cleaned up the gasket surface a bit.
P8250006.jpg
And it all went back on.
P8250007.jpg
A last few odds and ends and it'* all done.
P8250008.jpg
Total time, 65 minutes. And that was with about 20 mins of cleaning up the gasket surfaces. And we took our time. Helps when you have two people that know what they are doing.
Started up after the fuel pressure built up and first thing Rich says is, it'* idling smoother. Pushed the throttle and then said, hey, it'* not stumbling. This engine has been a pain for a while, changing the supercharger seems to have corrected a lot of problems. The coupler is good, the rotors look good, but there is some noise in the area of the gears. I'll take the SC apart and then I will know more.
And off he goes, another happy customer. He wasn't happy about the rain, he wanted to put it down. He gave it a bit and it sounds really hot.

We had both sitting side by side and spun them. His sounded like it had rocks in the snout. But I can find no play at all. It'* just when you spin it. I think it'* the bearings.
