CORE CHARGE

Definition: An acronym for "Cash On Return". Rebuildable parts that can usually be redeemed for a portion of their original purchase price. CORE charges are usually collected for engines, crankshafts, alternators, radiators and brake shoes.

In other words, they charge you the core charge and keep it unless you return with the part you took out and leave it for them to return to the rebuilder/remanufacturer.

If you meant "How much is the core charge", that varies by part/seller. For example, WalMart has a 5 dollar core charge on batteries. But I've seen other paces charge 10 or even 15 bucks.

If you actually meant "What does 'core charge" mean?", see above
