Default Cars your parents had when you were a kid

1955 Chevy 2 door. They had this from 1974 to 1979, it was the family car. New paint and engine, Mom mainly drove this one. They traded it for a 1978 Buick Lesabre in 1979. This car was also 2 doors, had a 350 4 barrell, AM only with stereo 8 track! Those were the days I remember how classy the interior was, the gauges had a brushed stainless steel appearance about them, with a LARGE clock in the passenger side of the dash. No clutter on the actual dash, all the idiot lights were mounted on a bar at the base of the windshield. I learned how to drive in that car. It went bye bye in 1991.

how about yours?

Well, since i'm still a kid, and I am still growing up, I may as well give the current ones

'78 Ford F-150 with a 351 Clevland, backed up by a Turbo 400. Sold on the move from FL to MI
'89 VW Golf Diesel 5speed. I want this car!! Slow as can be [so I can't speed], and got 40mpg, so I could drive all day long, help eat away at the ozone, AND do it all on only 1 tank of gas
'78 VW Beetle. Don't know the specs on it, but my dad still owns it, in need of restoration. Hasn't run in 7 years or so.
'96 Suburban with the 6.5L Diesel. Dad also still owns this sucker. Never dies, 'cept the A/C
'89 Bonneville SSE. Gee, I wonder what engine that car has?
'94/'95 Buick Roadmaster Wagon. Had the same engine as the Impala SS of the time, and was fast as hell. Don't remember much about it, except the 3rd row seat faced the rear hatch, so I could watch the road from the back of the car as my parents drove [super cool when I was 5].
'04 VW Beetle. 2L 100hp. Slow as hell, about as comfortable as concrete, and gets 19mpg [no OD, and cruising at 80, the car is sitting about 1500 rpm below red line]. The stereo is already blown, the front, side, and rear fascia has a different shade of yellow, than the rest of the car, and the rear trunk release works only 10% of the time [no other way to open trunk]. But yet, my mom loves this car more than anything.

Good times.. good times..

Bill: VW Bus?? That'* big pimpin' dude. Ever drive that thing? You must have, what are you 50 something? loL
