Default Toll'*

When I was in Maryland in April I took a daytrip from Columbia MD to NYC to Atlantic City, and man were there a lot of tolls. Is this the same all over the eastern seaboard or just in that region? I think it cost me about 35.00 round trip. It didn't help that I got lost either.

Toll roads seem to be concentrated in the NE. Some are ridiculous, fortunately not in the areas I travel regulary. The advantage is that in the more reasonable toll areas, they are much more tolerant of a slightly heavy foot.

Yup! There are some tricks to avoid some of the tolls for local residents. State lines, county lines, turnpikes, parkways, tunnels, bridges, they all want their cut! That one toll at the Havre De Grace line is nuts! Last time I drove it it was $5, probably higher than that now.
