Default GM 3.8 VS Ford 3.8...

I was wondering, this is a question for all "gear heads", what are opinions on the GM 3800 vs the Ford 3.8? How do they compare to each other?

x2. The supercharged version MAY be more powerful than the S1 L67, BUT they are more powerful "unreliably". They eat head gaskets like no other, NA ones are extremely weak, and made no more power than the 3.0 Vulcan did, and they have nothing BUT low end power. In otherwards, they completely lose steam in no time. Strictly a low end car.

Hmm...what about upgradability...meaning like..look at Intense, they got that one 3800 up to 800hp I believe? Can a Ford 3.8 be beefed up that much?

any engine can be modified with the right amount of engineering. But for an existing engine..there just has to be the aftermarket...but...with an engine like that...who would even WANT to mod it?

I'm not a big Ford fan, and I do entirely believe the GM 3800 is a far superior motor, but, with Ford'* Head Gasket problem aside which you can fix by getting an after market one, can someone list to me it'* other issues, maybe power upgrade limits, other reliability issues, etc. I mean I know the Ford 3.8 did not make Ward'* Top 10 engines unlike GM'* 3800, and obviously other awards and long run time...so there must be other reasons.

There no aftermarket for the Ford 3.8. It gets horrible gas mileage too and is totally gutless. My grandpa'* 92 Sable had that engine and it was horrible in pretty much EVERY way.

The one thing I've noticed being in a few is that they run very rough, they feel cheap. I want to know everyone'* thoughts on the Supercharged model of it?
