my computer is fooked!! HELP! (more on page2!!!)
2 night ago while trying to do windows updates my comptuer would blue screen and crash and restart... it would boot up fine and continue working, but today things changed...
when i woke up this morning it was at the login screen, i didnt log out last night. after logging in, it said its deal about windows has recovered from a serious error... i hit dont send... it keeps coming back like 15 times.. so i hit send error report...
the error has something to do with my SATARaid Controller, but i cant ever get far enough in to see whats going on before it blue screens and restarts... basically anytime i try to monitor ANYTHING dealing with the RAID controller it crashes...
tried going in the device manager, and there are 2 yellow triangles, SM Bus Controller or something? if i go to the windows update page like it asks me to, and go to custom like it asks me to, it crashes right there...
if i try to install the new driver off the correct disc i have it says it installed and asks to restart however upon restart nothing changes.
if i boot in safe mode it does the same thing, if i boot off my driver CD it says my hard drive does not support HPA!.... wtf is that?
ready to hit something, please help

make a ghost image of the drive, try to reinstall (with format). If it doesn't work - new (bigger) hd.
ghost is the fastest way to make sure you have all you data backed up.

do you indeed have a raid controller? which one? When you installed originally, did you have to do an F6 and point to raid drivers?

the drive is 250gb and over 175gb used... ghosting is not an option right now.. if that would do any good...
this SATA **** is not for me, i was used to my IDE drives, but with this new computer, i am clueless
boreas from the club here helped me through the main booting of the comptuer because i was having problems with the SATA drive...
all i have is the SATA 2550gb drive hooked directly into the MB... what its asking for is the SiI 3112 SataRaid Controller.... which i have the cd for and installed...
it worked fine for several months until now

I have an adapter that plugs onto the sata drive and makes it ide. then you can copy your data off of it. wanna have a mini meet and do computer stuff? I can supply extra sata drive to test on your computer, plug your drive into another machine to see if it works, etc.
