Don't stay away from it!

Go !!

Make sure it shifts smooth, and be suspicious if it looks like they detailed under the hood. They may be trying to hide something.

Use the CCR struts as a bargaining point if they're not working. If both lights are on on the console at the same time (sport/touring) the struts are shot, and aren't available. Great car anyway!

Welcome newbie.
You can check the cars history using the VIN.
There are some guys on this site who can help.
Take it for a ride and don't be afraid to put your foot down.
Give the brakes a good trial too, should be no pulsing.
Pull all the dipsticks and smell........the sweat aroma of Pontiac Power.
Good luck on your quest.

I bought a 99 almost a month ago and I am just as happy as I can be with mine.
It is the most incredible adrenalin rush everytime I light the SC up and put it in the wind!!

I definitely recommend one
