Hey Everyone, I just got a 1998 Bonneville SE for $100. The owner thought the car had a blown head gasket. So did I when I purchased it. Thanks to this forum I found out about the UIM gasket failures, and was able to repair the vehicle with very little out of pocket expense. I will post a piture soon. Yes I did block off the coolant ports to the throttle body.

Hi John!

Welcome to the Bonneville Forum! You got yourself a pretty sweet deal there. I'm anxious to see some pictures. Where about in Oregon are you?

Thanks to everyone for the welcome greetings. I'm in the Eugene Or area. Here is a picture of my newest Bonneville. The timing of this purchase couldn't have been better. I was getting ready to retire my old 1989 Bonny. My plan was to get the 1998 car running, then sell the 1989. As luck would have it I had an accident friday on the way home. I'm fine, but the car is a total. I look forward to being part the forum. I was surprised there was such a following for the Bonneville. After looking at the forum, I think I would like to get a SSEi around a yr 2000 or 2001.

X4. The SSEi is the car for speed and power. As you know the SE and SLE also have a good amount of power.
