I've been around this site for almost 2 years now but never introduced myself. We bought a 96 Regal custom 2 years ago and have put 16K on it since. It was down for a few months with a blown out LIM and because of my health and the hot summer temps here in Arkansas. I researched the trouble here and used the threads about the repair to make my job much easier. This is a great site and I hope I can return the info with some of my 35 plus years of working on cars. I've had Vets, 57 Belairs and 55 Nomads along with many Mopars but this is my first Buick.
I have 1 problem now but it'* not that serious at this time. When cruising above 47 MPH (in overdrive) how much pedal should it take to kick back to drive. If I'm on back roads above 47 with rolling hills I almost have to floor it to kick down into drive but if I drop below 47 it does kick down alright.
Thanks Rich

Hey! I'd like to say welcome, but you've been around longer than me! haha
Your problem might not really be a problem at all. It might just be the way the transmission is geared. From what I've seen, Buicks have had really strange gearing. It seems like the 50mph area is that spot in the gearing, where it seems like its right in the middle, and it don't know which way it wants to go. I've noticed something similar in my Century, where it feels like I have to really step on it to get it to accelerate, and other times, when its going a little slower, it will drop back with little effort.
Have you done a tune up lately? Like plugs, wires, fuel filter..things like that?
Do you have any pics of your other rides? I'd love to see the Nomads

Try a small test. When doing a steady 47 MPH on a flat stretch of highway, while maintaining the gas pedal in the same position, use your left foot to lightly touch the brake pedal. When you do that, do the RPM'* jump up a little? If so, that is the torque convertor coming out of lock up. Now try the same thing (steady speed, touch the brake) and as soon as you see the RPM'* jump up a little, try accelerating and see if the transmission drops a gear easier than you have been experiencing.
