Just bought my 2005 Bonneville GXP last night got it home about 11:30pm. Overall in great shape 89,000 mi appears to have all the normal issues everyone else has, radio and ac lights not working, sunroof not fully closed but it rained on the way home and didnt leak so I'm not messsin with it. Runs great otherwise. I'm surprised though at the rpm'* at 75-80mph over 2000 close to 2500rpm??? Is that normal?

I'd say thats pretty normal, with all the torque that the North Star makes you can cruise at a lower RPM to save fuel.

Welcome to the forum and enjoy your stay! I am sure we can help you get your cars little problems straightened out so she'll be as good as new!!

Trent, thank you for replying. I'm thinking over 2000rpm at highway speeds sounds rather high, I was expecting it to cruise at about 1500rpm at about 70mph. I've read about some transmission problems so my first thought was it was'nt shifting into overdrive (4th gear) but it is, so do you think over 2000rpm is normal?

Ya if you going 75-80, with the gear ratio in the GXP and since that'* about what I run on the Highway I'd saw that'* about right. Take a look at the top lines of the graph, RPM'* and Speed.

Welcome to the site.

the RPM you cruise at will be dependent on the gear ratio of your transmission. My car has 3.29 gears and I run about 2300 RPM at 70 MPH.
