Default New guy in PA Looking for a Low mi 2005 SLE

Hi everybody

I recently came across the Bonneville Club site by accident while surfing the internet and see from scrolling through the forums that it has a wealth of information. One of my previous rides was a 96 SSEi that was unfortunately totaled in 2002. It was one of the most trouble-free and best riding vehicles I have owned to date. Some of my other daily drivers have included a pair of 86 Grand Nationals and a 95 Impala SS. I currently own a 98 Regal GS which is getting a little rough around the edges at near 130K and needs to be replaced soon! I need a fair amount of room with 3 kids and gas mileage is now more of a priority than ever before which is why I am steering away from the awesome GXP.

Would like to hear from anyone who is driving a 2005 SLE and your overall impressions. Will I be disapointed going from 240 hp (in my Buick and 96 SSEi) down to 205 horses? How is the gas mileage? How does this compare to my 96 SSEi? I really like the clean body cladding and low production numbers of the 2005. I also like that it looks like a GXP and have seen a few out there with mileage under 20k that are now selling in the $16,000 to $20,000 range.

Will be posting some other questions in the appropriate forums soon.

Looking forward to participating on the site.

Welcome aboard. As you can see by my signature I cannot offer you any advice on the 2005 SLE. But I have been to Doylestown and the Mercer Meuseum. Definitely NOT your ordinary Museum.

Welcome from the Mid-State!! I also can't offer any experiences with the SLE but I definetely glad I have my SSEi. I feel I get the best of both worlds with good power and gas mileage. (22mpg on average w up to 30 all highway.)

Welcome! You can probably find a new 05 SLE, may be a litle drive, but there are still some left. I think the GXP'* and 05 SLE are the best looking of the 00+ Bonnie'*. I have driven both. The V8 is nice, but to me the V6 is plently and feels similar in power to the V8. I personally like the GXP better because of the spoiler, 18" wheels, memory leather/suede seats and the GXP only optional HUD. Before the 05 GXP, we had a 95 SLE and that was a great car and my cousin who now owns the car loves it as well. Car has 120k miles and runs great. The 3800 engine is fantastic, not the most powerful or modern, but it usually gets 30+ on the highway. Good luck. I think there is only 1 or members on here that has an 05 SLE
