Hey, I'm Chris. Figured I would join up, as I will be asking some questions(mainly pertaining to the Olds 4.0 V8 for now ), as well as giving my input as well. Just recently purchased a 2000 Bonneville, and this seems to be the forum to join up. I've owned 2 W-body'* and an L body as my GM lineup, and now it'* time for a bigger vehicle, so I knew I wanted an Bonneville.
Anyways, I've been a member of w-body.com for close to about 4 years now, and a member of bstuff.com for well over 4 years now(hell, probably getting close to 5 now), so I'm definately no noob as far as forums are concerned. I'm mainly active on the w-body forum, as I have had those two vehicles the longest, and I have written a few DIY'* for that forum as well.
I'm sure I'll probably get members wanting pictures, they'll come, i'm just really lazy. In fact, my computer is sitting right beside me along with the cord, I just don't fee like messing with it right now. But, i'm sure you can picture a Silver SE, Graphite Leather interior, no HUD or DIS, no sunroof. Body wise, the front bumper has a scuff, and there are some very light scratches in it, but I'm currently sorta in the search of pricing the sle front and rear bumpers(are there even side body cladding/skirts?), and taking them to the local paint shop. While the car is there, it'll get a wetsand treatment as well.
Right now, I'm currently working on a fiberglass box for the corner of the trunk behind the drivers taillamp. I'd say, from doing previous work before, it'* about 40% done. Depending on how busy my install bay is this week, it could be done by the weekend.
Myself, I'm a Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Toledo. I'm in my Junior year(although I've been senior standing for about 2 semesters now). I'm originally from north of Dayton Ohio (where my old man lives), my mom lives in Farmington Hills, so I frequent up and down I-75 a lot (just incase any fellow members live around here and wanna check out my what I have going on).
Anyways, I'm off to the electrical part of this forum to find out interior harness differences, then onto the other g-body part of this forum to find out engine bay differences between the 3800 and the 4.0 in the Olds. I have a local car buddy from w-body.com that buys and sells Olds, and he can snag me a setup for a really good price. But, we both wanna do our homework first before we decide to go ahead with the swap.
Any questions, shoot em my way. I'm a pretty nice guy, and in the several years I've been on forums, I have not once went off on anyone, so I do get along with members pretty well.
Thanks!

Welcome aboard from one Mechanical Engineering student to another!!
Glad to have you on board.... never hurts to have another person to go to with Autocad or Autodesk Inventor 11 (yeah, the crappiest one-to-date) questions.
Out of curiousity, what program do you use out east and how would you easy would you think it is for say...., a guy who has almost zero autocad experience? I ask because I never had any autocad classes, and my instructor/advisor told me I should take this class, along with 4 other newcommers. All 5 of us are having troubles with it and the instructor is regretting it -he has us working with a tutor for 5 hrs a week and still we are having troubles. I still don't regret any of this one bit though..... just a little bit stressful for me at times.

I have done AutoCAD 2004, 2005, and 2006. I'm pretty decent at it, infact I created my own template to use whenever I do drawings. Just incase your interested.
I have also done Catia V5 as well. I pretty much self taught myself last summer at my summer engineering co-op at North American Lighting (they design and manufacture automotive lights, www.nal.com). I ended up recreating the reflective lens with variable shaves for the computer simulation software. When it comes to reflective lens'*, the two company'* that actually make them would not give out any info on the design at all, so I had to cut up some reflex lens, measure it on microscope, then re-create it in Catia. Needless to say, they were very thrilled, and want me back this summer(and possibly after graduation). I also ran Hoffman Goniometer software to test SAE/ECE/FMVSS standards for future lamps(a year or two out of production), ran an amber bulb study for prediction models, and reprogrammed ASAP software with the newest standards for testing.
Yet, I still can't find a damn job in Ohio
