I've owned alot of cars over the past 20 years, but the last 3 have been bonnevilles, with the most recent being a Liquid Silver GXP.

My first bonneville was a dark blue 1994 bonneville, no frills just a good car. I eventually traded for a loaded '97 Silver Bronzemist SSEi and never looked back. I kept that car the longest of any car I've owned - just traded it this past June for the GXP. I had planned to keep the SSEi forever (as cars go) but when I saw the new GXP, I had to have one. Plus, the SSEi was showing its age - my antilock brakes died just after the warranty expired - they got lots of use back in New England where that car "grew up".. I bought an OBD2 interface to diagnose it (to find the ABS is a proprietary system!) - eventually got a local garage to do a few readings for me and the end result was a bas BPMV so I never got it fixed. Driging on LA washboard freeways didn;t help. The car started costing me big money every few months. Struts, rotors (twice), front calipers, water pump to name a few, plus the normal maintenence on a 7 year old car BUT with only 75K miles on it! THat stuff wasn't so bad but the kicker for me was when the transmission started slipping, winding out and heavy clunking into gear. Local mechanic said it was normal but I couldn't stand it. The steering also started to feel unstable to me especially at higher speeds and on LA'* washboard freeways. Did I mention that LA freeways suck?

In comes the GXP. I have to say I was mildly dissapointed by the (as many have reported) lack of expected power. I think the SSEi had more off-the-line but the GXP would probably take it in short time. But the GXP is a dream to drive and is the best car I've owned to date. The only style of it I'm not entirely thrilled with is the grill - too similar to the rest of the pontiac line - iot should be more "luxury distinguished".

Welcome. A new GXP is sweet. Don't let the 405 beat the car to death. i agree with you on the grill, it just begs for some type of mesh treatment.

Welcome, and yes, LA freeways DO suck! I spent some time down there myself. Glad to have another GXP here. Go-fast mods will come.

My wife does want to move back to New England, but she seems to forget about the 4 feet of snow we left back in '97. I do miss the seasons though, but not the road salt
