Default New to the Bonneville club...

Hello everyone!

My wife'* '04 Pontiac GTO was just totalled, so we replaced it with an '05 Greystone Bonneville GXP. Nothing but good things to say about it so far. I read the post about painting the part of the rotor hats with black high temp paint, so I did that. It really does make a difference.

My first car was '67 Bonneville 428 4 door, so I feel like I'm returning home. I'm just saddened that this is the end of the Bonneville line. At least it went out with a bang with the GXP.

I look forward to all of the fiendly help and advice on this forum. It'* good to be here.

We only had our '04 GTO for 6 months, when it was totalled by an uninsured 17 year old girl running a red light. I told my wife that we could get another GTO (an '05) to replace it, and she said "No! Too many memories of the wreck."

Two weeks ago I was in Charleston, SC on a business trip and rented an '05 Bonneville SE. I liked the car and it started me thinking about the GXP. My wife and I looked at several and decided on the Greystone metallic GXP we have now. We both like the looks of the Bonneville over the 300C. And, the dark pewter interior looks a little less busy than the taupe, although I still like the taupe interior.

The Bonneville is basically my wife'* car. She feels safer in it because it'* bigger than the GTO and has side impact air bags. It'* also easier for her to drive. So, that'* the story of how I ended up here.

Welcome to the club, as you can see I am a newbie here too! Be sure to post some photos of your new GXP! What a fine car! I have a 2005 SLE with many photos posted in the My Ride Area check them out! Have fun with that car, gee I wish mine was a Northstar! Couldn't get over the fuel economy tho! My wife said it was a gas hog! That stinks for me but plus I could get the SLE without leather (like a car simple) oh well I still wouldn't give up my chrome wheels for all the money in the world!

hey guys;
Just picked up an 05 Bonnie GXP; liquid silver pewter interior. It is a
wonderful ride. I,ve been keeping track of this forum for almost a year, hearing the good and the bad on the gxp.The good far outweighs the bad.I came out of a 2000
Regal GS with the sc3800. Great car. But with high mileage and this being the end of the Bonneville plus the GM employee discount I bit the bullitt. Having owned the
sc3800 and now the northstar I can honestly say they are both great engines but very different. As many of you have argued in many posts, there are those of you who are
"torquers and twisters". I do wish my Bonnie had a little more grunt off the line like my
Regal did. But I do 80% highway driving, and I just love blowing by hondas and other
rice burners leaving them to wonder what was that???? One thing that I would recommend to any of you gxpers is the 12 disc changer. Yea its trunk mounted;but
with about 125-150 songs to play, its fantastic.
In closing I must say that I test drove the 300c, great engine but withthat cheese
grater front end wayyyy too ugly. And tested the Magnum rt again nice but too hard to see out of the rear window. I also tested the Grand Prix GXP, very quick, but the interior is much nicer in the Bonnie, smoother ride, more standard features(such as heated mirrors and interior mirror dimming, not avail. on the GP) But the Gp GXP is more like the GTO,a muscle car. The Bonnie is a Sporty Grand Tourer I guess . To each his own.
But I;m real happy with my choice. Just bummed that GM chose to drop the Bonnie, while people scarf n barf up those butt ugly Avalons! I look forward to reading more posts. I think I'll just go sit in my GXP and listen to the exhaust rumble for a while; or untill
my wife tells me to take out the trash..............................
