New from Alabama
Hello all,
I just purchase a 1998 Bonneville SE with 104K and a new "used" engine with 21K installed at 92K. Car has had a rough life in a Gulf salty environment. The only gripes I have is the fuel pump is really loud is this normal and sometimes I hear a roaring from the rear (I imagine I need to get all the wheel bearing regreased quickly) The body is also rusting in some isolated spots. Any way I can deal with the spots without getting the entire car painted. Something I can put on to just stop the rust. The car is used for basic transportation. Great car, love the dash and the motor is strong for sure. The ride is great and the car is plenty roomy. Where have I been living in the past. Just happened upon this one and am really impressed and this is just the SE with few options. I imagine the SSEI with the supercharged engine with all the options is a really great ride. I had a 1998 Trans Am which I sold and I guess downsized due to a daughter now 16. But I must say I think I enjoy the Bonneville as much or more - not as fast but it is quick and comfortable.
Thanks for any help with the questions.

Welcome!
We need to see pics of your new ride!
Post your mechanical question in the 92-99 forum and we'll help you out with that fuel pump (although what you describe is normal...GM pumps are loud).

Welcome to the Southeast group...lol
And the noisy fuel pump is a sign of things to come... Looks like a replacement will be in your future.. I drove mine with my noisy fuel pump till it was about ready to crap out... I knew it was almost finished when the low was 32psi instead of the 48psi I should have seen
Welcome
