Default Just Purchased '97 SSEi

Greetings from Iraq,

I just purchased (took a big risk on ebay) on a 97 bonneville SSEi. I am looking into putting a new pulley/pulley system, intake and pcm reprogram. I have been looking into Intense Racing and I am liking what I see. I previously owned a 98 GS and I put a Thrasher intake and pulley from them but am very curious on the quality and reliablity of Intense. Anyone have any ballpark figures on what I should gain from it? I have 30 days off when I get back from this deployment and thought about having them put it on and put it on the dyno, but if its not going to put atleast 240 at the wheels after those mod'* I won't waste my time going..

Any opinions or comments would be helpful

Thanks!
-Josh

Welcome to the club. Did you buy that white one about a month or so ago?

Those mods will get you about 20 or 30 HP.

Congrats on the purchase and time off. You're probably going to need valvetrain and exhaust work before you'll get that number at the wheels as opposed to just a pulley and intake. Obviously start with a good tune-up though. I'd suggest their fenderwell intake as opposed to some kind of engine bay setup.

Always be scanning for KR when you pulley down. All cars react differently, and a 3.4" pulley on stock exhaust could likely have some KR.

Yes, It was the white one a few weeks ago on eBay. When I get back home in a few months, I will take more pic'* than anyone would ever want.

Pearl Bonne...that car is gorgeous

dillcc...stupid question..what is KR? On the exhaust topic, I was looking through cardomain and I have noticed that a handful of guys run just a different muffler and a free flowing cat for I have not found any full exhaust kits. Will that be sufficient?

Thanks

KR is Knock Retard. It'* what the engine does to protect it'* self. If you try to add to much power without the right mods you will get it.

You shoudl not need to do anything with your exause other then a good muffler and a freeflo cat. The pipes are fine.

Mods you will want are a cold air intake, 180* thermostate, drop your SC pully to a 3.5" change your PCM to a tuned one, perhaps a shift kit. After that it get'* a bit more involved, PEMs or headers, rockers, springs, smaller pullys etc.
