Default Hi need a little advise or direction

Hi bad caddy 93 here hows everyone Im a 4 year owner of a cadillac fleetwood and aside from minor issues I've had with my car I've not had any trouble but I took my car in to get a noise checked that I was afraid of and was confirmed to be a bad piston rod the place I took it to said I need a new engine I'm wondering if it'* possible to just replace the bad rod or should I see about going and getting another engine any advise or commentary please thanks

welcome to the forum..it honestly all depends on how much run time the car has wit the bad rod bearing and it its had a chance to tear anything else up

Thanks for the response and info it hasn't been doing it for more than 2-3 weeks I'm going to drane the oil and look for shavings and get a second opinion before just letting them replace the entire engine Just to make sure that'* it
