Default Hey Folks, Larry here!

If all cars floated then they wouldn’t sink when you drive them into the water. When I was 4 years old I saw a small convertible in a lake with two guys fishing. I decided that when I got big, I was gonna get the car that floats, the German built Amphicar, so I did. Why don’t American car manufacturers build amphibs? I think they are really missing the boat! I’m also mildly a fan of the “dustbuster” vans for their other worldly appearance, so I have one of those too, a 1995 Pontiac Trans Sport, but it’* giving me fits! I hope someone here can help.

Welcome to the forums Larry.
So I guess you must get some surprised looks while in the water!
The Amphicar I have seen or road, never on the water, and I am sure that must be exciting and fun all at the same time.
Once I was on the ocean in my boat, approaching the coastline. Through my binoculars a mile ahead going slow, was some sort of 4x4 like land rover heading toward a boat ramp.
I could not believe what I was seeing. There were 4 passengers in this tank, and do this day I have no idea who made it or how it floated, and drove up the boat launch to land.
Numerous tourists took photos, the guy opened the door waived at all taking pics and carried on. Reminded me of the James Bond movie !

Default Amphibs

Most likely, you saw the Humdinga by Gibbs or the German built Amphi Ranger. There are some other possibilities. If you really like the idea of an amphib the hottest ones, in my opinion, are from Dave March. The Watercar-Python and Watercar- Panther are top contenders. You'll find great vids on Youtube.
