Default Hey everyone!

I've been floating around here for about a week now...I just thought I'd tell you my story.

I just got my 97 SE last Friday...I fell in love with the car before I even drove it...all it took was me sitting in the seat, and then of course, I drove it and I knew I had to have it. It was a trade at a local dealership, and I actually rushed them so much on getting the deal done, they didn't even have time to clean it up for me.

I like doing that stuff myself anyways...washing, waxing, detailing, etc...it makes me feel 'connected' to the car...I'm sure some of you know what I'm talking about.

The last week has been spent figuring out how many miles I can drive on a tank (fuel level sensor is bad), replacing the belt, washing, waxing, cleaning the carpet, detailing, and trying not to get pulled over due to the window tint (stupid Michigan laws...).

This site has already helped me more than I can imagine...and I look forward to staying active around here...it'* like a big family!

I just posted my first real whorage in the Your Ride section, and a 0-70 vid in the In Motion section...go check it out!

Chris

Welcome fellow newbe! I have been around for a few months now and everyone has been alot of help.

Wife and I bought our 99 SE after our Saturn was totaled in a car accident. We love the ride and feel of security in the Bonneville.....and with all the nuts here in Southern California and the crazy way they want to drive (always tailgating, cutting you off) it is nice to have a machine that when you punch the gas peddle....the car responds and gets you out of the problem! Quick!

So hope to see you around the site.......

Welcome to BC, Chris.

Based on your explaination of how you felt about getting your car, and your feelings of "connection" to your Bonneville, you're definitely one of us. I think everyone that is here and is active knows that feeling all too well. We all have it often and over and over again, everytime we turn the key, or turn our heads to glance back at our Bonnes when walking away from them in the parking lot.

And I see you already figured out for yourself, what we here at BC have all come to know and take great pride in......that we are like a big extended family (except we don't have that one weird, somethings-not-quite-right, uncle....that every family seems to have........instead, we have hundreds of them ). It seems that a Bonneville owner (espicially one who is passionate about his car) is kinda different and is not just your average, normal car nut. We are a special breed , so be careful, because before you know it, you WILL find yourself part of this wacky bunch of caring people.

I do that EVERY time I walk away from my car I just keep thinking about how good it looks now, and how glad I am that we fixed it up

Ok, I don't feel so weird about doing that anymore! And look out the window and see it in the driveway...or try to catch the reflection of it in a glass store front...hahah

Another thing is that you notice EVERY Bonne out there. I was out cruisin' tonight and saw three the same color as mine (although NOT well taken care of :? ), and then two more in different colors. It just amazes me how someone can just have one of these beautiful machines and just think of it as "another car."

I guess you're right, we are a truly different breed...read my quote in my sig, I just think there'* a huge misconception of these cars...I've had a number of people say "why'd you buy a grandma car?"

To which I reply... "my grandma couldn't handle this car"

We definitely are. I was in kmart parking lot tonight parked next to a 96-99 SE and went to card it on the way out, the guy took the card very reluctantly and looked at me like i was nuts and said, theres a club for these things? Him seemingly not noticing my gleaming 93 right next to his, just kinda said...mmhmm, ok, got in the car and left.

For some reason, all the good members seem to make it here on their own, the ones that don't already know how a forum works just dont seem to join.

glad to know you're one of us...and god, doesnt that feel good to look back and say, damn...i own THAT? or purposefully park in front of something just to say, dang...thats...mine.
