Default Hey all

Just picked up my 2000 Bonneville SSEi with 133,000 miles this evening. We sold our Yukon a few months ago to straiten up our budget. I drive a company vehicle and my wife moved into my old 94 K1500 extended cab 176,000 miles on it. It was a bit inconvenient with our 2 boys 9 and 6, but it was working fine until last weekend when reverse in the tranny decided to be less useful. So we decided to find a decent dependable car and I get my truck back. After looking at a lot of junk and (Grandma) cars, we came across this very nice looking Bonneville. I have always liked the "i" cars, and excitement flowed in. I resisted as long as I could, the bank even tried to help me resist this car, but after many phone calls and many dead ends on other vehicles this Bonneville continued to call our name so we drove this vehicle home tonight. There are a couple of downfalls, 1 the radio screen and volume does not work, which is ok because the steering wheel controls work and the station is still displayed on the heads up. The other thing is the "service Stabilitrak" message that comes up every so often. Guess I will have to get it scanned and see which item it is. A quick glance at the site tells me that it could be a steering position sensor or acceleration sensor. If any one can give me any other advice, I would be happy to have it. I should have some pics shortly.

Hey Chris!

Welcome to the Bonneville Forum! I love my 2000 SSEi....I love it so much that I have a pile of mod parts waiting for the spring mod season. Be careful! When the mod bug hits, it hits hard!!!

Welcome to the forum!! I love my SSEi as well and as you can see by the siggy i can't seem to figure out how to leave it alone!! There are also a few other things that can cause the Service Stability System notice to come up on the DIC which for my car atleast was
1.) a bad front left wheel speed sensor
2.) bad yaw sensor #1
3.) bad height sensor
4.)bad steering wheel position sensor
every thing is super easy to replace except for the Steering wheel sensor that one takes a minuite but as Danthurs pointed out we do have the step by step write up to fix it.

Again welcome to the forum and let us know how we can help you out

Thanks for tips on stability control, hoping the mod bug doesn't hit for another year or 2, but almost can feel a slight itch already. Hopefully have some pics soon, just a clean looking Bonneville. any info on the radio screen?

Chris there has been a few discussion on fixing the radio screen and success is limited. I had the same issue and found a new in the box OEM replacement on eBay and went that route.
