Coin is on a distinguished road
Default Hello from the land of Dolly Parton

A quick note to say thanks for the add to the forums. Been a GM owner since 1970 and darn proud of it. My first GM ride was a Nova 6 banger that was a mode of transportation nothing else. I have gradually moved up the chain to a Lemans, Monte Carlo, Customized van, *-10 Blazer, GMC Jimmy, the Alero, an Olds Omega with the polyurethane front end, and I now have in addition to the Alero, 2 Blazers one is a 95, one is a 96, and I am building a 2000 engine to fit the 96. The 95 is down with a mysterious tranny problem I will ask about in the main forums.
My main hobby is Treasure Hunting for old relics, coins and jewelry. I can hunt land or water and recover items up to 200 foot. I am also the current club president for our local metal detecting club. If you can lose it we can find it! With over 100 club members trained to preserve and restore any areas we search.

Welcome to the forums Ralph.
Besides all the GM'* you have, I got to say that is a pretty cool hobby you have!
What kind of coins have you found over the years?
In Florida I wonder, are gold coins are still washing up on the beaches from the shipwrecks?

Default Coins found

Over the years I have been hunting I would estimate I have found 25,000 coins or more. Yet I have never found a gold coin. Silver coins galore from the 1800s forward to modern clad. My oldest coin is a Spanish cob found way down south near the gulf. I found a 1776 dollar coin in the wall of a house plus I have found numerous pieces of jewelry. Rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, toe rings, crack pipes, bongs, lighters, and tools by the hand full. I have also found enough junk to fill the bed of a pickup truck several times over. The junk goes with the good stuff because many is the time a junk piece lays right beside or over your good target.
Finally in answer to your question Occasionally someone will stumble across a gold coin on the Florida beaches. Primarily on the Atlantic side or so called Treasure Trail. Hunters find coins all the time but most are reluctant to tell about any gold ones because of the "Treasure police." There have been numerous incidents where coins have been found and claim laid to them by the "Coin *****". Eventually ending in forfeiture of the coin. You should join the hobby if you love the outdoors and like finding lost articles. I purchased my first good machine way back in 1980 and still own it. The very first time it was used my wife found a 14kt gold class ring that paid for over half of what the machine cost.

Sounds like you really spend a lot of time working the hobby outside! Good to hear you have found many coins. Ever found any civil war artifacts?
Ya I am sure if I had found some Spanish gold coins, I would keep it quiet too.
They are worth quite a bit now. We have beaches here where after 300,000 folks attend the world fireworks competition, Guys go in afterwards and search the beach for the lost goodies.
I can image they find lots of jewelry around here with diamonds LOL, watches, etc.
I am a few years away from retirement, and since we have river pools sometimes loaded with nuggets, what model would I need that can be somewhat submersible, yet still could detect the smaller (Au) nuggets?
