i was in search of information and found this great site!
i have driven many cars in the 25 years i have been on the road, almost too many to recall anymore.

in all those years, i have never had a Pontiac untill now. a few GM cars; 1969 455 Delta 88, 1968 442, 1972 Buick GS , 1970 Heavy Chevy Chevelle and a 1972 Camaro; mostly Ford and Lincoln/Mercury products were my daily drivers. right out of high school at minimum wage (AND MARRIED TO WIFE #1) you learn quickly that a '74 Mustang II with a 2.3 makes your little paycheck go the farthest as opposed to the 455 Delta.

if not for wife #1, i would never of had my GS, though...sadly totaled in the winter of 1986 by someone running a red light. skip ahead into the 1990'* - more Fords.
wanted a new Beretta in 1990 but couldn't get credit so i had an Escort instead...had a 1971 Mercury MX 351 and a 1968 Ford F100 with a 428 and Wife #2.

now, 3 kids and soon to be Wife #3 later, i have a 1989 Lincoln Continental, 1993 Ranger XLT and a 1998 Dodge Caravan; the Caravan brings me to The Pontiac part of this long story.

soon to be Wife #3 likes the Caravan - she is a Troop Leader for Girl Scouts and more room in Caravan = Less fighting of children in traffic so she suggested that i drive her car and she drive the van..."Well, i guess i will suffer with the Bonneville because i love you, dear..." i reply.

Suffer? no way ! i had driven her car 2 times before now, and was impressed to say the least. this is what brings me here...
1996 Bonneville SE bought for slightly less than $4,000.00 2 years ago. it just now only has 77,373 miles on it i can't believe she got it for only 4 g'*!

my Lincoln has the same size engine as the Pontiac and is a dog by comparison. the Pontiac ride is crisp and tight; you can FEEL the road almost...the Lincoln is floaty like a whale kinda...anyway, the Bonneville has already suffered the dreaded Intake Failure back in November and seems to run very well indeed i try to actually do the speed limit now so i can enjoy the ride . if i am out when Soon To Be Wife #3 calls i tell her i'm out "Widetracking" and she warns me to be nice to her baby.

i like this car too much to abuse it, is she crazy? then i would have to drive the Caravan again...

i look forward to being here.
Bob

Welcome Bob...

Glad to hear she "let'*" you drive it. Where ya from?

We've had so many people buy a Bonne for their kids thinking it was a granny car and during the fix'up process they fall in love and tell the kids "good luck" on a car.

Illinois by the Route 66 Raceway; south of there about 7 miles is a tiny town called Elwood that i have mostly lived in since i was 11.

it'* great to hear the jet cars run at the track in the summer the first time i thought it was a jet over head...

Welcome to BC, Bob. Nice to see you enjoying the Bonneville. I have somewhat the opposite problem at the moment. Somebody attempted to steal the wifes min-van, and at the moment, while it is getting repaired, she is driving my Bonneville and now doesn't want to give it back. :?
