Welcome to the club! You'll like the SSEi much better than the GTP. Its an all around nicer car, no doubt about that. And as was already said, I think you'll like the environment of this forum much better than ClubGP.

You might find out that you aren't giving up as much performance as you think. I've driven a bunch of both cars, GTPs and SSEi'*(mostly 92-99), and I think that the 92-99 SSEi, at least, is actually a little more responsive in cornering. That extra 3"(?) of track makes a big difference.
Do you know if it has the FE2 or F41 suspension? If you don't know, check your RPO sticker on the underside of the spare tire cover in the trunk.

Yes, it'* tough going from a 13 sec car to a 15 sec car. I'm gonna have to fix that..lol.
The interior is very nice indeed. It does handle very well. Beter then my GTP when it was stock. Ofcourse I had Koni/Eibach suspension on it so it handled like it was on rails, so you can't really compare that. I'll have to go see which suspension I have on the Bonnie....

Whether you've got the FE2 or the F41, you should still be able to hang right in there with a 97+ GTP in the twisties. With the right tires, that car should go into the corner with just a little bit of roll, grab onto the road, and scream out of the turn like a cat on fire.
I've made a grown man scream like a little girl on some of the nastier roads of southeastern Ohio.
They are FUN cars on back roads!
