"Hello GM Forum" Newbie Here
Hello, I’m a old fart here in sunny California, been around for a while, last engine I tore into was a 1963 - 283 v8 Chevy in a 1963 belair wagon. Had a 2 speed power glide trany that was about 40 years ago hehe. About 4 years ago I bout my wife a 1997 buick skylark custom with the 2.4 liter engine used. We both fell in love with it. Ran great no problems then I notice some coolant underneath the car one day took a look under the hood and told myself no way.
The only problem with that was I never let anyone work on my stuff but what I saw kind of scared me and so my daughter had a friend that owned a shop who worked on 4x4’* and I let her talk me into letting him do the water pump change. Got the car back in about 3 days and he keep telling me what a nightmare that was. So the car ran good for about a year about 9000 mils all of a sudden there was a light nock coming home from work one day and louder as I was getting closer to my home. I took it by the mechanic who works on it before and right away he told me it was a rod but for some reason after spending months of research I’m thinking it’* something in the timing chain department and he just did not want to go back there. The nose is coming from the timing chain cover so any how I have decided to tear into it. Need to take a look and see what’* going on. So if it’* ok with you all ill have a ton of questions to ask in the weeks to come.
Wanted to say hi and as soon as I learn my way around this forum I’ll be back.

Welcome to the forum Brian!
I'm sure there are members that can help you on the 2.4 Skylark.
For the tech questions though, it is probably best you make a new thread in the Buick section. Grab the camera take a few pics and ask away!
