Hi everyone! We are the proud new owners of a 2002 SSEI and loving it. After watching our son, Ben Eichelberger (big_news_1) spend hours (and years) on this website, we never imagined we would find ourselves here as well. When we were looking for another vehicle he encouraged us to try a Bonneville and we are very glad we did. My husband is actually out driving it around right now, probably cranking some tunes! I have to complement this Club right off the bat: when we were looking at buying this car (private deal), we noticed a slight noise in the steering column when turning right or left. We mentioned it to our son and he directed us to this site. No kidding, the first topic posted when I went there was about the intermediate shaft in the SSEI, along with a video perfectly depicting the problem. The fix is fairly inexpensive if we choose to do it, but seeing it addressed on this website gave us the confidence to go ahead and purchase the car. We are amazed at how much "you all" know about these cars and consider this a great resource. HA! Guess our son was right all along!

Welcome!

It'* not often you see someone encouraging their parents to hang out with their friends, so I'm guessing either you guys are really cool, or Ben is really confident we won't rat on him... :P

BTW, I tried encouraging my family members to try a Bonnevile. My Mom just bought a Honda Element, my Dad drives an F-350, and my Bro'* a Mopar guy. I must be adopted... :?

Welcome! Glad to see that Ben'* family has joined our Bonneville family. If you decide to lube or replace the intermediate steering shaft (or have Ben do it. ) here is the link to the techinfo article on it.

Welcome to BC. Ben mentioned this to me the other week, and I am glad you were able to get the Bonneville. You get a lot of car for the price (at least used) and it makes a great family car, and with the knowledge base that we have here, fixes are usually a snap. (Not to mention you have several highly respected members not too far away).

As far as Ben is concerned, since he moved down here, I can tell you I have been trying to "keep an eye" on him for you

Both of you should be proud. Ben is a very upstanding and responsible young man. You brought him up, well

Don't bother her with that silly article! :P

Actually, since writing that story, I'm constantly bothered by how much more editing should have gone into it. I turned that thing out in a short amount of time, and it deserved more attention to detail.

Anyhow, it'* good to see you in here, Mom! Glad you decided to introduce yourself to the rest of the gang. You'll find a bunch of nice, easy-going people here, and plenty of advice, technical info, and just-for-fun content. I'll have you and Dad hooked on BC before you know it. We'll lure you in for the first few times, and then you'll keep coming back begging for a fix
