As far as I am aware, the only "Rank" system on this forum is the respect and reputation you earn with the other members based on your own knowledge.

My thoughts exactly, but apparently we are both wrong. Gearheads are entry level.

I beleive dan said lets call it.As it was trying to made out as we are ranked and in a sense we are but every single person on this forum is just as important as another.Without all the people we have here this place would not be what it is i see the badges as more of a label of expertise if you see what i mean

This. Times 1000.

Just because I wear a Moderator badge doesn't mean I know squat about cars. The only reason I'm a Mod is because I spend a lot of time on the forum to be able to sort things out, which makes the job of Gearhead easier to do when a question is asked in the wrong area.

Well, I apparently don't know enough to get a stinkin badge, nor do I really care about who ranks where. I don't look at a badge and immediately think one person is more important than someone else. Same goes for post count. High post count means nothing. The content of the posts means more than the number.
I tend to pay more attention to what someone is posting, than their "credentials" off to the side.
But I come here, ask questions, and try to take the time to answer where I think I can be of help. I admit, I don't know everything, and I'm always learning. I've found out a lot of things the hard way. I didn't grow up in a "car" family, or with "gearhead" friends. But if I see anyone having problems with their car, I'll be the first person to step up and try to help. I don't carry all my tools around just for me, they have been put to good use to get other people back on the road in a pinch. I'm just a helpful person by nature. I'm just as involved "out in the real world" helping people out as I am here, if not more so.
No "badge" is gonna change that, or make me think any different. I respect people here, regardless of whatever appears at the left side of their posts.
