Hello from the Land of Oz
I've just spent the last 2 evenings cramming info into my skull. I just got handed my grandfather'* 1992 Olds 88 (family decided car + Grandpa = property damage or worse) and I'm so glad I found this place! It has a tick over 83k & I know it has always been properly maintained. It'* just not been driven much the past few years. Head gaskets were replaced last summer & that'* the only major thing I know of that'* ever gone wrong with the car. SES is currently lit & my father says they were told it'* the cam sensor. Seeing if the magnet is still in place on this weekends "to do" list along with fluid changes.
My other car will now become my weekend & beautiful day toy since I plan on the Olds being pretty reliable. I'll be attacking the suspension soon after I'm sure all the drivetrain stuff is solid. Going by the RPO list I've got the FE1 (Float-a-Matic in my head). It'* on the original struts & crappy Douglas tires. Compared to my RX-7 it'* almost nauseating on the highway so I'll have to get a bit more control & feel added in. Since the struts/tires/springs can all be grouped into "maintenance", I think I'll be able to rationalize some money leaving the wallet.
Bah, I'm starting to write a book here. I'll resume the thought train in the respective forums. I tend to not leave things alone when it comes to the cars I drive, so this forum will be a wonderful place to help me figure out how to get this car a bit more to my taste. I really hope I wont get sucked in quite as badly as I did with the 7. Check out he link in sig & you'll see what I mean Just wanted to say hello to all & lay out a bit of my info.
