Default Hi new member here with a few question

Nice site guys, I just picked up a 95 Bonneville SE with a series II 3800 for $350 that'* in really good shape. The only real problem it had was that it needed a new upper intake because it was dumping coolant into the combustion chambers. The guy I bought it off of had no idea as to what was going on and was quoted by a local service shop for $800. He had no room for it and thought the car was shot so he listed it on Craigslist for $500. I emailed him and said can you do $350 and he said ok.

SO now I bought a new intake "kit" and ran into a few things that I'm confused about. It came with 2 aluminum tubes with flanges, are these supposed to replace the stock EGR tube that goes from the lower to the upper manifold? Or are they for later versions of this motor and get discarded?

Another thing I ran into was the PCV "cap". The one they included with the kit came with a cap that has a hole in the top as apposed to the solid cap that came on my car that just has a hex head nut in it.

Thanks for the help in advance guys!

Hey Eric, welcome to BC! We both have the same car! So many questions!

Those tubes may be mods to replace the existing "stove" pipe with a newer style that prevents leakage.

The PCV cap, leave the original, unless someone else here says otherwise. I think the new one might be for the versions with a sensor.

Welcome to Bonneville Club. We're very helpful here.

However, please post your mechanical question in the 92-99 forum. You'll get much better exposure to your question in that forum.

Welcome to the Forum, I sure hope someone drained that oil when it failed the first time, or the bottom end of the engine will fail shortly, and if you have further questions of a mechanical nature, please feel free to start a topic in 92-99.
