The Impala WAS offered with the LT1.
Just in the previous body style. I doubt you'll ever see the current body offered in that manner with RWD. And a Northstar/4T80 combination would be a tight squeeze in that W body.
The AWD 6000'* were ahead of their time. Neat cars. I recall awhile back that they adapted the AWD setup from an Aztek and mated it to an LS1 in a Grand Prix. They broke everything in the test.
