This is a very recent issue. And hasn't been moved over the winter.
Thanks for the response.

Default Do it yourself is more rewarding

In high school I didnt know anything about cars, all I knew was how to change the oil. Ever since the internet and champion auto stores I have doing all my repairs by myself and there is no greater feeling like replacing a major part and starting the car up and it purrs. God gave us internet and repair manuals. Over 13 years I know I have saved well over 20K in repairs. If you dont know it learn it.

Welcome to the forum!

When were you planning on picking the car up? I'm tearing my SLE down this weekend and doing the same thing you need to get done. Really not too bad of a job, and we have a great writeup for it.

Definitley buy this car, like these guys said earlier the gaskets are relativley cheap and on the 3800 motors they are pretty elementary to replace. Plus you have all of us on here who have your back if you have any questions while replacing them. Any questions about the 3800 or Northstar V8 I can personally help with. 2001 SSEi can be parted out for 3k maybe more but if you get it going your looking at a great reliable car. If you dont trust me, trust the moderators, these are great guys who know their ****. You will get to know a great group of guys while repairing a great vehicle. Think about it at least. Take Care and Im always available to help.

Zig,
Thanks for the encouraging words from both your posts. They really mean a lot. And I totally
agree w/ you; yes it is more rewarding! But all I have really is a set of sockets. I am mechaniclly
inclined... The mechanics that i've talked to are saying the head(*) have to be checked for warpping/cracks ect..It'* just the un-knowen that makes me leery. I haven't seen the car in 2
years and I told him even if I don't take it he can store here at my place, which he is doing this weekend So any insite into this will be greatful. I'm driving a 96 Lumina which had the same problem after I bought it. Cost me 1.5 grad 5years ago, but I haven't had to touch it since !
That was on a 750 investment. I'm not sure if I want to do this again to get the gas guzzler going, 1500.00 to get it up and going is not that bad,is it? . Zigger, again Thankyou.
Any words of wisdom I'm greatful.

tom
