Default Trans interchange

Could anyone please tell me if an 4L60-E from a 1996 S10 4.3 TBI Reg Cab, Shortbed,2wd will be a direct fit and will work in a 1994 GMC Sonoma with same specs as the S10? Or am i biting of more than i can chew? The trans in my Sonoma is about gone. I am asking because i found a real good deal on the S10,has been wrecked, front clip is mangled along with front suspension, frame is bent beyond repair. It has a little over 25,000 original miles on it and is a one owner with all documentation from date of purchase till last oil change 500 miles prior to being totaled. I hope the trans will work without too much trouble. I plan to use the rest of the S10 to build a custom barbecue/trailer to use at the numerous barbecue competitions i compete in around the country. All replies will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Ken
