Default 2001 Sonoma overheating

2001 Sonoma 4.3 4x4 automatic fan clutch engages before 210 degrees +/-. It'* more frequent on stop and go city driving. My question is can I install an electric fan and if so what kind do you recommend. I already replaced water pump, belt tensioner and thermostat to factory specs. Please advise.

Have you done a pressure test on cooling system? Lower intake manifold gasket leaks are super common on 4.3L engines; may be the source of your problem.

Remove front grill assy.-Inspect for debris build up in front of AC condenser. Clean out.

If already clean. You can replace the factory 195 T-stat with a 180 for the summer.

You could install electric fans, but its not worth the hassle of removing the existing fan, wiring in some POS fans. Unless you wanted the PCM to command the fans, then you would have to have the PCM reprogrammed, which is another added expense. Best to get a different T-stat.
