Oswego is only an hour or so from me. If I can get the correct parameters, I can tune it for him for the cost of fuel and beer.

you would have to make sure hpt supports the 6l80, i think the newer ones have, and i would guess he would have to pay for credits. so depends how much gas and beer you go through might be cheaper to get it tuned, lol

Thanks for all the info, you guys have been more than helpful. Being that I work for a municipality, they probably aren't going to be interested in investing in any tuning, way too afraid of voiding a warranty, or possibly making sense. I actually hoped there was an easy lo-buck fix I could sneak in when nobody was looking. If this thing was my own personal truck, I'd definitely be looking to tune it. Thanks again to everyone on this site, your a great help to a lot of struggling do-it yourself mechanics. I'll keep watching, eventually someone will come up with a backyard fix using coat hangers and soda cans, or maybe if enough people make noise GM will do something. lol

I hear what yer saying Bob. But aint no soda can/duct tape gonna fix this thing. Its all in the software. Best I can say is, run the snot out of it. Maybe GM will see a problem after that.

i think the only thing that might happen is if enough people who complain they will come out with a software revision. but that wont likely be well publicized, most of those come out as tsb'* and its only brought up if you take the truck in enough complaining about it
