Hey there everyone, I've got a 99 GMC Suburban SLT, it'* now to the point where if I don't start upgrading it, she'll eventually die. So I've begun adding mods to it, working on getting new shocks, 2" lift, new carpet, cold air intake, the works. Basically I've decided that I'm never selling it because I put a new transmission in it a few years ago so I'd never get the value back out of it, the plan is for a "multimedia-off roader" in the end.

My most recent project is going adding an android tablet into the sunvisor, to control a few things since the old stock ones were falling apart. I want to add power to them so once I mount the tablet in the visor I never have to take it out, and I'll wire in a switch so I don't drain the battery of the truck.

Basically after all that information the question I need answered is:

Does anyone know the voltage off the wiring harness for the lights in the sun visor? Because I can't find my voltmeter.

I can't imagine it is anything other than 12 volts DC. An issue you may want to look at is the gauge of the wiring- GM always uses the cheapest wire they can get away with, I doubt the visor light wiring can handle much of a increase in amps.

This is probably the right answer. I was thinking since the lightbulbs were uber tiny it may have already gone through a reducer.

So you were right, and I ended to having to cannibalize a car charger that will be hidden, but it will also be able to provide power to a secondary USB device!
