I am a fool
Ok, I changed the oil incorrectly on my 02 Suburban. It was late, i was tired and rushing. Here is what i did. I have drive about 30 miles, 8 miles each, with at least 3 hours between, in some cases 24 hours.
1. Drained the TRANS fluid, and about 1.5Q came out.
2. Replaced oil filter, about 1.5Q came out.
NOTE: I did not drain the oil pan, accidentally the trans fluid.
3. Filled the oil with 6Q.
4. Drove 15 miles, noticed slipping transmission-> low fluid.
5. Added a half quart trans fluid, drove much better. (Makes sense as i was low on fluid).
I just drained about 4Q out of the OIL pan, which makes sense as i am at 5.5Q total out now, 6Q replaced.
So, given the distance driven, etc. What kind of damage may I have done. Clearly, in my mind, the engine was frothing the oil. I am unsure about the trans being low on fluid. Theories, comments, death threats are all welcome.
I am such as freaking fool.

if your really worried you can service the transmission have you had it done or have you done it before ?
I think you are fine but I would like to know last time trans was serviced

You have a drain plug on the transmission pan and pulled it by the sounds of it, instead of the oil pan drain plug?
I would have thought the suburban would hold way more than 1.5 quarts in the trans pan.

Hope it wasn't the transfer case.

Thanks all.
The truck only has about 115k miles on it, and the trans has not been serviced. Something I was planning to do soon.
I was surprised at the amount of trans fluid too, but I measured what I had taken out last night ( it'* been a few days since I did this. The bolt is recessed, and I did not drop the pan.
No, it was not the transfer case. The fluid is red. Fair comment though.

Should have gotten more than 1.5 qts even with a recessed plug.
Probably should drop the pan next time.

Ohh. Yes. I plan to drop the trans pan after memorial day. Until then, it'* not going anywhere. Do you pump the fluid out from the cooler line to swap more fluid out?
What about the extra oil in the engine. I am really more concerned with that than the trans. Thoughts?

Don't worry about leftover oil in the system. You probably have about 4 qts just in the torque converter.

Just for clarity
So i should be ok having driven 30 miles or so with about 4QT too much engine oil?
For the trans, just drop the pan, replace the filter, and refill?

Oh, no. You gotta get that extra 4 qts out. I thought you were talking about something different.
Trans is correct.
