Spongy brake pedal
So, it'* been awhile since I've messed with brakes. I changed my pads and rotors on the front of my truck and checked the rear pads in hopes to cure its spongy pedal and pulse. Well, the pulse is gone, old rotors were really warped. The sponge is still there though. Old pads looked barely used, same in the rear.
I'm thinking I need to bleed the brakes after I check fluid level. If fluid level is good, and it'* not discolored what do y'all recommend?

First thing I would do before bleeding the brakes would be the check the hose that comes off the brake line that goes to the caliper. Check for any cracking or dry rotting in those hoses. That'* what could be causing a spongy pedal.
If those houses look fine move onto checking the brake fluid. If it'* old and looks drity remove and replace. If the fluid looks good then bleed your brakes.
Take a hose and open up the bleeder valve put that on there. Get a small bottle fill it up with a 1/4 of break fluid and then have someone pump the brakes and do so until no more air bubles come out.
That'* the the cheapest way to do it without getting a bleeder. Hope that helps.

If you pump the brake, does it firm up? If so, you have air in the system and you need to bleed the brakes. If not, then the master cylinder is likely leaking. Push the peddle down, does it slowly go down? If so, it'* leaking past the seals in the master cylinder.
